Every spring, the Dordogne region transforms into a captivating stage for Châteaux en Fête, an annual festival celebrating its magnificent castles and historic estates. The event offers an exclusive opportunity to visit over 90 public and private châteaux, many of which are not typically open to visitors.

For two weeks, from April 19 to May 4, 2025, history lovers, adventurers, and families can step back in time with guided tours, medieval re-enactments, falconry displays, and live entertainment that that bring these storied residences to life. From the great Renaissance castles you may want to visit, to the small and charming manor houses, this festival offers something for every curiosity.

Beyond The Castles

Beyond the beautiful architecture, there’s plenty more to do during Châteaux en Fête. It is an invitation to experience Dordogne’s rich culture. Visitors can enjoy medieval re-enactments, falconry demonstrations, and sample delicious traditional French cuisine as well. Families will find plenty to enjoy, from interactive storytelling and lively animations to hands-on arts and crafts, games, and face painting for kids.
